Caribbean Airlines’ staff undertake clean-up at Caura River, Trinidad

As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and community engagement,  Caribbean Airlines proudly participated in an environmental clean-up at the Caura River in Trinidad on Saturday, November 15 2025.

This initiative forms part of the airline’s Sustainability Programme under the Community Pillar and marks the third year the airline has undertaken this effort, following initial clean-ups in 2019 and 2023.

The 2023 initiative was part of a pan-Caribbean effort, with simultaneous clean-ups taking place in Trinidad, Guyana, and Barbados, reflecting Caribbean Airlines’ dedication to environmental stewardship across the region.

This year, the team collected over 400 pounds of rubbish, contributing to the preservation of local waterways and surrounding ecosystems.

The Caura River clean-up activity was conducted in collaboration with the International Coastal Clean-Up (ICC), a regionally active non-governmental organization committed to protecting coastal and riverine environments throughout the Caribbean.
“We are proud to continue our environmental clean-up tradition at the Caura River,” said Caribbean Airlines Acting CEO, Nirmala Ramai.
She continued: “This initiative reflects our commitment not only to sustainability but also to the communities we serve. By working together, we can make a tangible impact on our environment, fostering cleaner, healthier spaces for everyone.”

Through initiatives like the Caura River clean-up, the airline seeks to empower employees to actively contribute to the protection of the Caribbean’s natural resources while promoting a culture of environmental responsibility.

The airline further extends  special recognition to KFC Trinidad, one of the flagship brands under Prestige Holdings Limited, for their contributing sponsorship of this event.

Caribbean Airlines’ Sustainability Programme is guided by three pillars: Community, Wellness and Education.
