Caribbean Airlines supports Essay Competition for Secondary Schools students
The Essay Writing Competition came at the culmination of the three-day Beyond the Blue marine environmental exhibition which was held at NALIS Port of Spain during the period 17th – 19th September 2019. Participants were exposed to issues relating to ocean health, climate change, wetlands and their role in the mitigation of the impacts of climate change and more, in an interactive and immersive environment using Virtual Reality.
Sariah Esther Ramcharitar (left in photo above), an Upper Six student of St. Augustine Girls’ High School (SAGHS), is happy to receive her prize – an Apple iPad- after copping first place in the “Beyond the Blue” Essay Writing Competition .
The Institute of Marine Affairs hosted a 3 day Marine Science Environmental Exhibition for secondary schools in Trinidad themed ’Beyond the Blue,’ which culminated with an essay writing competition in September 2019.
Caribbean Airlines supported this initiative which aimed to :
- Promote the student’s understanding of the harmful effects of people’s actions on the marine environment
- Encourage widespread learning and inquiry among the students and
- Raise awareness on what citizens can do to be part of the solution in conserving T&T’s marine environment.
