Caribbean Airlines’ 2nd annual Career Expo, held from Wednesday November 06 to Friday November 08th 2024 at the Centre of Excellence in Trinidad, attracted thousands of students from secondary schools across Trinidad and Tobago and was a resounding success for yet another year.
The career expo is a flagship event under the airline’s Education pillar of its sustainability programme and was supported by Gold Sponsor Linstol and Bronze Sponsor Unit Trust Corporation.
Some 8,000 plus students from 98 secondary schools across T&T, registered for the event.
The Honourable Lisa Morris Julien, Minister in the Ministry of Education, in delivering remarks at a brief ceremony held on November 06th to officially open the Expo, encouraged students to pursue their dreams with diligence. In her address, she reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to education and commended Caribbean Airlines for its dedication to youth empowerment. The Honourable Minister also called upon corporate Trinidad and Tobago to consider adopting schools to further support education across the nation.
As the students gathered eagerly to explore career options, they were greeted by the airline’s CEO, Garvin Medera, who shared words of encouragement. “Caribbean Airlines is committed to becoming one of the top ten employers in the region, and events like this Expo are central to that mission. We are dedicated to empowering the next generation through education, mentorship, and by creating opportunities for you to thrive”
The Expo provided a unique platform for students to engage with key representatives from 57 organizations across various industries, learn about career paths, and gain practical advice on pursuing their dreams.
Dionne Ligoure, Executive Manager of Corporate Communications at Caribbean Airlines, who also addressed students at the opening ceremony , highlighted the value of education as an essential tool for growth. “This event is for you, to help propel your education and career. Connect, ask questions, and let these resources guide you toward your goals,” Ligoure said.
Over the course of the three-day Career Expo, students also had access to interactive displays, workshops, and hands-on learning experiences that brought potential career paths to life.
This free event underscores Caribbean Airlines’ steadfast commitment to education and the development of youth in the region.
